Current Favourites for the Rugby World Cup According to the Leading Betting Sites

With anticipation for the Rugby World Cup rapidly heating up now, it’s perhaps unsurprising that so many people are beginning to look to the betting sites to see how the odds are stacked. Of course, the betting site predictions are never a direct answer to which team is likely to win the Rugby World Cup, but it’s safe to say that there’s a lot to be said for a team starting out with low odds during their matches.

With this thought in mind, whether you’re looking to place an in-advance bet or if you’re just curious about how things are looking from the betting site’s perspective, we’re taking a look at some of the current odds. We’re looking based on some of the big names, such as Bet365, BoyleSports, Coral, and Ladbrokes, to help you work out how the state of play is looking.

What are the Odds for Overall Cup Winner?

Odds for the overall cup winner across all of our major bookmaker choices (Bet365, BoyleSports, Coral, and Ladbrokes) is currently a unanimous choice: France. Overall, all three of Ladbrokes, Bet365, and Coral are offering odds of 5/2 for France to Win, with BoyleSports being a little more conservative at 11/4.

After that, the second favourite is New Zealand, with odds in the region of 3. However, Bet365 is a little more confident, offering odds of just 11/4 instead.

Meanwhile, teams such as South Africa, Ireland, and England are all roughly on equal footing, with odds of 5 and 11/2 being common across the four betting sites. As such, in terms of the top five, there’s not a huge amount of difference in terms of odds overall, so it is all to play for.

Current Outliers

If you fancied punting on a less likely bet, the odds on the biggest outliers for the cup winner are looking rather pleasant. Romania’s current odds are 2000 with Bet365, 5000 with BoyleSports, and 1000 with Coral and Ladbrokes. Meanwhile, Namibia and Uruguay are also achieving similar outlier odds, although Bet365 is offering a staggering 2500 on both of these to win – so while the chances are very low, on the off chance that these teams were able to perform at the high level, you could be looking at ludicrously high prize money.

Of course, it has to be reiterated that the bookies have offered such high odds for a reason – the chances of these teams winning, based on current performance, seem very low.

Final Thoughts

With more and more people getting excited for the start of the 2023 season of the Rugby World Cup in September, it’s no surprise that the bookies have already started releasing odds based on the past performances of the different teams involved.

At the minute, there seems to be a general consensus that France will likely be the winner. However, things are looking pretty stable in terms of odds between New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, and England. As such, it’s safe to be an interesting season as we wait to see how things pan out.
