Abu Dhabi Golf Championship Odds
On the edge of the thriving Emirati city of Abu Dhabi lays the impressive Yas Links Course. Described as the first true links course in the Middle East, Yas looks out onto the Arabian Gulf and is the home of this year’s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, having hosted the prestigious event since 2022.
The 2024 Championship teed off yesterday where prestigious players from around the world are battling it out for the win and a cool purse of $9,000,000.
Flying the flag for Ireland are Rory McIlroy (currently -5), Tom KcKibbin (-4) and previous winner Shane Lowry (-3).
Let’s take a look at the Irish betting market for who’s currently in the running to be crowned the winner come Sunday.
Tommy Fleetwood
Englishman Tommy Fleetwood shot the best round of Thursday with 10 under par and as such, finds himself as the current favourite to win the whole thing. The 33-year-old from Southport has won seven DP World Tour titles including this year’s Dubai Invitational. Perhaps Fleetwood has a knack for pulling it out of the bag on Emirati courses. Either way, the market fancies Fleetwood to continue his sizzling form:

Tyrrell Hatton
Occupying 4th position, fellow countryman Tyrrell Hatton sees himself as the second favourite to win this year’s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Hatton has had numerous victories across Liv Golf, European and PGA tours meaning that he is no stranger to podiums at the biggest golfing competitions.
Regarded as one of the best ball-strikers in the world, it’s no surprise then that the bookies see Hatton as staking a legitimate claim for challenging in Abu Dhabi.

Thorbjørn Olesen
Danish sensation Olesen is the bookie’s third favourite and is currently joint second after shooting 9 under earlier today. Olesen is a big name on the European Tour having won numerous times such as the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open and the 2018 Italian Open. Olesen lives just down the road in Dubai and having done well at the Andalucía Masters, the Dane is accustomed to playing well in the heat.
Olesen could be a nice each-way play and provided he doesn’t have a bad round, will certainly fancy his chances come Sunday afternoon.

Rory McIlroy
There he is! McIlroy currently leads the trio of our Irish hopefuls and despite having some work to do after shooting 5 under in his first round, the bookies have trust in McIlroy’s abilities to dig deep and pull something out of the bag over the weekend.
The Holywood superstar is keeping a close eye on his competitors and will be hoping that his swing tweaks can be the difference in making his way up the table.

Joaquin Niemann
Chilean Joaquin Niemann comes next. The former world no.1 amateur golfer has two PGA wins to his name prior to joining LIV and having won this the LIV Jeddah 2024 event, will be fancying his chances for another scalp.
Niemann shot 6 under par in the first round and will be looking to be in the mix for this one.

Shane Lowry
Lowry is not the next favourite but we couldn’t help but wrap things up with how things are looking for the other Irish golfers. Lowry has previously won this event but currently sits at joint 35th after this first round of -3. Still plenty of golf to be played!

Tom McKibbin
McKibbin may have had a better round than his compatriot in Lowry, but he doesn’t have the same track record of winning notable events. As such, the Belfast man is long on this one:
